Iman; white; male; born - Pendleton Co., WV; died June 7, 1885 in Milroy Dist., Grant Co., WV; aged 55 years 1 mont h 20 days; parents - Emanuel and Barbara Iman; occupation - gunsmith; cause of death - heart disease; death source - Hannah Iman (wife).

Other Names for the family. I've seen a "Henry" posted here, thought born 1882, a Franklin, and an Alvin (is this :Alvah?).

Listed as Cornelius Imen in civil war records. He was enlisted in Union Army at Greenland Gap. Most men were placed in Company I of the 7th WV regiment. The WV infantry was known as The Bloody 7th as they had the highest casualty rates of all WV u nits. They were the only WV unit in The Army of the Potomac and fought in every major battle in the east including Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, The Wilderness, Cold Harbor, siege of Petersburg and Appomattox. Other Norm notes: Cornelius b 1830 m Hannah Kimble b 1836 in 1853 in Mouse, Pendleton Co, WV, veteran of Civil War WV Infantry, gunsmith (two of his guns are in the hands of collectors one by Cecil Shillingbur g of Barberton, OH the other by Mr. Armstrong of Keyser, WV) among other trades, they raisedÊ13 children, James Monroe, Susannah,ÊJohn C., Abraham W.,Nancy C., William Edgar, Sarah Jane, Rhoda Viola, Alice D., Henry, Franklin, Alvin andÊAdeline, C ornelius died in 1885 and is buried on Lemon Hill ~4 mi N of Scherr, WV along with his wife Hannah. Carl Iman knows where the gravesite is located as does Judy Burgess (downline kin to Cornelius).
