Notes:

We do not know Catherine’s birth family.

Some have thought perhaps she was a Sarah Katherine Landis. This contention is evident in a note from the early 1900s down the Illinois line to Washington State. There were many branches of the Landis family throughout the colonies. A close neighb or of Imans in Hardy were the Landes -- long standing residents who may have originated from Mifflin County in an area quite near the Paxtang lands of Jacob Eiman.

The difficulty of locating Catherine revolves partly around confusions as to who Christian was, and how old he was. There were at least three Christian Eymans during the period.

Some have speculated that this woman might have been a Catherine Sites although there is no suggestion of this name in the genealogy of the George Sites who resided in Hardy and was a neighbor of Imans. Though George Sites had long resided in th e Fairfax estates area, the name Eyman or Iman doesn’t appear until 1787, which would be following the birth of a couple of expected females who were marrying out to other families by the early 1800s.

There has been a suggestion that Catherine was a Whiteside, though no clear links have been possible to make. There were several Whitesides in the Paxtang area, though the people with this name who joined Eymans and Imans in Illinois had migrate d from North Carolina where they had lived for quite a while.
